I think this is ethically bad to ask like this after hiring, if you want to know something about company before hiring just ask.
Every one has own opinion.... but he is successful man .... HP is not small company...

In europe ... when IT company ask to interviewer that do you have any question? He asked the same question ... if you hire me why should I join you ? Company gave him job :) lol. This question makes him different because he has ability to think out of the box ?

I disagree with respect. Its very rare that companies will think this way. This question has a very important purpose. In 99% cases if you do this you will straight away be rejected no matter which part of thr world you are. Explain in a well structured and confident way what is it in you that will benefit the employer.

I think it's not a question to test your technical capabilities rather your thought process. You'll get stuck here, if you think your technical capabilities are everything you have to offer, because they have your resume, they had two hours of interview with you, they know you are technical. Definitely you need to come up with a bespoke answer. My advice is to have pride and confidence, and tell them why such a confident person will be an investment for their company. Read about the company and their specialities, tell them you can help them.

At last some sensible answer. Its more to test if uou are self aware or not. Any thing like questioning back is silly and I don't think any employer can tolerate that kind of immaturity.

Beleive me I never asked this question. This is a weird open ended question. Even in different blogs I could never find sensible answer, as tne straight answer is just praise urself. Yes, instead recruiter may ask scenerio based question or simply tradition ur strengths and weaknesses or what u liked best and worst in previous job.
