"when to add coolant": The pipe through which you pour in the coolant has min-max levels mentioned on it. Your coolant must not exceed the maximum and must not decrease below the minimum level. You should check the levels once every 2 weeks. If you feel that your car requires the coolant to be refreshed earlier than this, there must be a problem.
