I use different browsers for different accounts, that way I'm already signed in to my account when I launch that particular browser.

well i dont do that. there are settings in chrome. both passwords WERE saved earlier, im not sure how they got changed.
Nophil Rizvi dont want to link them, as i dont like to mix my work mails and my personal emails. and the ability to use both at the same time doesnt really matter to me bc my work email are only accessed till a fixed time after which i dont touch them. i just want that when i click on my personal email, the password should be saved.

You can't. Your personal Gmail can't save its own password, but can save passwords for other gmail account. This is by design, you have to reauthticacte every 30 to 90 days, if the password for the same gmail is saved in the same gmail account that defeats security.

im talking about the "save password" option. before im signing into my personal email, im not "inside" any gmail account.
Aren't you signed into Chrome itself using your personal gmail?
Waqas Tariq im talking before that. you know that window you get when you open gmail.com but arent signed into an email account, where the list of email accounts is presented?
Sufia, all passwords that are saved via chomre are synced to a gmail account. This happens when you sign into Chrome, when you start Chrome for the first time. The account you sign in with is now the primary account. If you do not sign into chrome, the first gmail account you sign into becomes the primary.
To see if you're logged into Chrome see the title bar right side for your name.

Configure your work gmail on any email client. Like MS Office Outlook. And your personal on Google Chrome. Or if there is any limitations that you can't use email . Let me know. Will find other solutions.
