Even with a screen cover, you need to take care of your phone, such as not putting it in the same pocket or bag with keys or other objects. Screen covers last much longer when cared for this way.

Yes im always careful with that.
Then it is indeed strange. I just get the standard tempered glass protectors and they usually last a few months.
Actually the tampered glass one makes the screen very glossy looking so i took it off. Since then iv gotten atleast 3 different protectors including ClearCoat. All have failed to last even a month

Not sure about S8 but I never used S7 edge with any protector. Mine was as good as new after 2 years when I sold it.

Yeap.. i faced the same issue.. but then I decided to use soft cover film instead of glass protector (cuz damn they cost way too much) from aliexpress in under $6 you can get 10 soft cover film.. the minute one get dirty or bubbles you can change yourself cox you'll have bunch of them. Using glass protector on edge screen would be stupid idea cox it does not sit well and eventually come off. On the other side it has gorilla 5 glass.. soft film would be best to save it from scratches P.S aliexpress link: Ascromy 10PCS Full Cover Film For Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus S7 edge S6 S5 S4 mini S3 Screen Protector 3D Soft PET ScreenProtector http://s.aliexpress.com/aeeMZ7zI?fromSns=Copy to clipboard (from AliExpress Android)

But the real art is applying these. Can we apply it on our own? Also will this provide any kind of protection or scratch resistance?
Yes you can apply yourself.. for guidance you can watch tutorial on youtube. You get soft cloth as well with these. And yes they provide protection to the screen from scratches. In my case one film cover lasts 2 to 3 months. Over time.. if the film got scratches you can change it any time.

For the record this is what happened to my S8 plus today. I dont understand what caused this. This happened out of the blue. One moment it was fine the other these bubbles appeared out of nowhere

I never get bubbles like this while using the film. I have been using them for over a year now
Apparently this is ClearCoat.
Maybe something to do with the crazy levels of humidity at night the past couple of days, combined with the device's heat?
